Impact Evaluation of Saturday Art Class Art Labs Program

Populi partnered with Saturday Art Class to conduct a comprehensive impact assessment of their art-based Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) program, aimed at understanding how creative expression influences students’ emotional well-being, self-confidence, and classroom engagement. Alongside the point-in-time evaluation, we also led an evidence-mapping and literature review exercise to build a strong research foundation for integrating arts into the school curriculum; strengthening SArC’s advocacy narrative with funders, educators, and policy stakeholders.
Through performance- based assessments, classroom observations, focus group discussions, interviews, and analysis of student work, Populi documented key shifts in SEL competencies and creative behaviours across participating learners. The insights helped SArC refine its program design, articulate clearer outcomes, and bolster its theory of change with credible evidence. This partnership enabled Saturday Art Class to communicate its impact more effectively and deepen its contribution to the field of arts-based education in India.
